Laboratory Specialities ("LabSpec") focus on the supply of in vitro diagnostic assays to the medical pathology field. Established over 18 years ago, Labspec has become a dominant role-player in specialised niches of this very complex and fragmented marketplace.

What we do

Laboratory Specialities is the sole distributor for many international leading diagnostic research and manufacturing companies, many of whom dominate their respective fields globally.

Whilst LabSpec's core business remains the supply of allergy assays manufactured by Phadia, expertise has broadened over time. New areas of growth include immunohistochemistry, with the addition of the Ventana range of automated immunohistology cell staining systems.

LabSpec is unique in that time, resources and expertise are invested in clinical promotion of the application of allergy assays to practitioners in Southern Africa. This marketing approach has created a comprehensive awareness amongst the medical fraternity resulting in a dramatic increase in diagnostic testing.

In 1988, LabSpec was a founding member and catalyst for the formation of the Allergy Society of South Africa

In addition, LabSpec is involved in a number of other clinical applications namely: diagnostic tests and assays to identify those suffering from coeliac disease, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory and oncology conditions, to name a few.
